The biggest names in Hip-Hop are doing everything they can to give back to their communities just in time for Thanksgiving.
On Wednesday, November 25, T.I. and his non-profit organization Harris Community Works hosted their 20th annual turkey drive in Atlanta. According to 96.1 The Beat, Tip, his family, Young Dro, and the city of Atlanta helped provide turkeys and all the fixings to over 1,000 seniors for their families. In videos posted to Instagram, you can see Tip, his sons Domani and King Harris, Dro, and other volunteers give away turkeys to citizens in their cars.
"[T.I.] has been doing this for 20 years," Mayor Andre Dickens told Ferrari & BT. "No fly by night. He ain't do it one year then stop for the photos. He didn't do it two years, took ten years off and did it when he in trouble or something like that. No, this is on this man's heart and mind. His community puts their money where their mouth is and we are blessed by what God is doing in his life and our community."
Travelling up north, Coi Leray had plenty of success with her first-ever turkey drive in New Jersey. The "Players" rapper, who just gave birth to her first child this year, and her new non-profit Camp Courage, gave away turkeys and connected with the youths who attended the event.
“You gotta give back,” Leray said in a recap video she posted. “We receive so much blessings, make sure that you bless others, even just a small prayer, letting them know. Just pray for your friends, family, everything [and] mental health.”
Between T.I.'s ongoing dedication to his community and Coi Leray's breakthrough into community service, other rap artists took the time out to ensure families have a happy Thanksgiving. Max B recently teamed up with The Defiant Foundation to deliver turkeys to those in need who live in his old neighborhood in Harlem. The seasoned rapper, who was recently released from prison following a 16-year bid, also took the time to speak with the residents and provide them with some holiday cheer.
