Sean "Diddy" Combs has denied reports that he was caught drinking alcohol behind bars.
On Monday, November 10, the imprisoned artist broke his silence after TMZ reported that he was reprimanded for possessing homemade alcohol while at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. According to sources, Combs was caught with a concoction made of apples, Fanta, and sugar, which turns into prison hooch when fermented for two weeks. Soon after the report spread, the former mogul's attorneys denied the allegations in a statement.
"The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false," they wrote on X. "His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family."
"Mr. Combs is in his first week at FCI Fort Dix and is focused on adjusting, working on himself, and doing better each day," Diddy’s family spokesperson Juda Engelmayer told TMZ. "As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumors and exaggerated stories throughout his time there—most of them untrue. We ask that people give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth with grace and purpose."
Combs mentioned that he had been dedicated to his sobriety in his letter to Judge Arun Subramanian ahead of his sentencing last month. He told the judge, "Prison will change you or kill you I choose to live.” He also asserted that he had been sober for the first time in 25 years.
It's only been a week since Diddy was transferred to Fort Dix to begin his prison sentence. Following his conviction in July, the Bad Boy Records founder was sentenced to serve 50 months at the low-security prison. His fellow inmates, including former NBA star Sebastian Telfair, embraced him during his first few days there. Prison officials had even planned to move Combs from his old unit into a new one. However, after discovering pruno in his cell, Combs will remain in his cell for now.
