Gunna Shares The True Meaning Behind His New Album 'The Last Wun'

There's been a lot of discussion about the meaning behind Gunna's brand-new album.

After he announced the title in June, Wunna was inundated with rumors that his sixth studio LP would be the last album on his longtime label Young Stoner Life/300 Entertainment. Despite all the fan-driven theories, The Last Wun is all about showcasing his growth as an artist and immortalizing his legacy.

"I am the one, as you know, from One of Wun to Wunna," Gunna tells iHeartRadio. "Basically, I feel like I'm the last one standing, and I know I'm the last one here. That's why you got the stone sculpture, because I feel like stones last forever."

"Me living life itself and wanting to show the growth is what inspired me to put this album together," he says. "I'm excited for my fans to hear every song on the album. It's a great body of work."

Gunna's new album contains 25 tracks in total, including stand-out singles "Won't Stop," "Him All Along," and "Just Say Dat." He spent the past year recording the project at his studio in Los Angeles and other locations during his travels around the world. The Grammy-nominated artist recruited a diverse group of talented artists to help him tell stories about overcoming the hardships he endured to reach this point in his career. You can hear the international influence in songs like "Sakpase" and his collaborations with Afrobeats artists Burna Boy, WizKid and Asake.

He also locked in with Atlanta's own Offset and Nechie as well as his trusted beatmakers like Turbo, Kizzy, Kenny Stuntin, Aviator Keyyz, Omar Grand, and 1500 or Nothing to help create his new batch of songs. The album's cover was crafted by sculptor and artist Devon DeJardin, who captured the true essence of the album's overall themes in his creation.

"Shout out to everybody who helped me put this album together, man," he says. "I'm excited for my fans to get every single song."

Gunna has been on a wild run over the past two years. Since dropping a Gift & a Curse in 2023, the Atlanta native has brought his music to life for fans across the globe. Last year, he embarked on his "Bittersweet Tour" with Flo Milli where he performed songs from both a Gift & a Curse and his previous LP One of Wun. His 17-city run included several sold-out shows in Georgia, Florida, and more.
