Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash Over 'Tone-Deaf' Tweet

Kim Kardashian had Twitter in an uproar for sharing a “tone-deaf” tweet.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was dragged on the platform earlier this week when she absent-mindedly flaunted her wealth — seemingly with no regard to the hundreds of thousands of lives being impacted and lost to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

That became the source of everyone’s ire when Kim tweeted images of her equestrian family getaway to her Wyoming ranch, where the billionaire businesswoman houses her 14 “Freesian” horses. (It’s spelled “friesian,” FYI.) “Meet North’s Freesian horse,” she tweeted with an image of the black stallion. “We have 14 gorgeous Freesians on the ranch.”

Per the images she posted to Twitter, Kim and her husband Kanye West flew out to Wyoming to celebrate their eldest daughter North West’s cowgirl-themed 7th birthday party. Despite how much fun Kim’s birthday girl appeared to be having, many found her tweet inconsiderate considering the current state of the world.

Many of the sentiments echoed that of this user, who responded: “Yeah slightly tone deaf Kim.. come on love.. people are struggling, don’t begrudge ur fortune but maybe u don’t flaunt it when ppl can’t feed their kids.? 🤷‍♀️”

“The money you paid to buy one of these horses could have fed one or two families of four for a whole year. 50+ people could have eaten. But yay you have 13 extra horses,” another user commented.

Someone else wrote, “Honestly the fact that you chose a moment in time when our unemployment rate is the highest it’s ever been since the Great Depression to brag about having too many fancy horses and then couldn’t even spell the breed correctly is a perfect illustration of America in 2020.”
