Drake Celebrates 10th Anniversary Of 'So Far Gone' & Thanks Kanye West

It's been 10 ten years since that kid from Degrassi released his life-altering mixtape So Far Gone.

On Wednesday (February 13), in celebration of the huge milestone, Drake wrote a heartfelt thank you to all those who helped, influenced, or were just present in his life during the creation of the project that went on to define a generation of hip-hop. In a lengthy Instagram post, the 32-year-old rapper individually shouted out Lebron James, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Future the Prince, Boi-1da, Ben Baller, and more before announcing that the 2009 mixtape will be available on streaming services for "the first time ever" later this week. "I will never forget anybody involved in this journey even if you don’t fit in this caption," he wrote. "So Far Gone streaming everywhere for the first time ever Thursday [February 14]."

Also included in his celebratory post was a thank you (I'd also like to call it an olive branch) to his on-again-off-again friend/collaborator Kanye West. "@kanyewest a decade ago I rapped over your beat cause you just made the best sh*t and even though you stay wildin on twitter these days I will never forget what you contributed to the game and my career," Drake wrote referencing Ye's many many Twitter rants about him.

As fans know, Drake dropped So Far Gone back in 2009. The album not only launched him into stardom, it also brought a new, vulnerable, and emotional sound to hip-hop.

In a 2009 interview with Complex, Drake discussed why he created the project, saying, "It’s basically a story. It starts in January 2008 when I was kinda confused like, What am I really doing? I gave up acting all together to really do this music thing, and I was really truly confused. It’s way different than acting, there aren’t people to depend on, you really have to build your own thing basically from the ground up, you know, so in January not only was I confused about my career, I was also in a very destructive sort of us exhausting relationship with a female and it was just a bad headspace for me to be in. So that’s where the tape starts."
