Cardi B Says She Is Sharing Her 'Best Rap Album' Grammy With Mac Miller

Cardi B may have won the night at the 2019 Grammy Awards, but she didn't take all the praise.

After being awarded "Best Rap Album" on Sunday (February 10), Cardi gave a special tribute to late rapper, Mac Miller , who's album Swimming was also nominated in the category. "I read an article that Mac Miller’s family said that if he don’t win, they want me to win so I’m sharing this Grammy with you," she said in an Instagram video recorded backstage. "Rest in peace."

The "Money" rapper later shared a screenshot of the article she mentioned with the caption: "WE WON A FUCKIN GRAMMY 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆."

Cardi's win marked the first time a female solo rapper has ever won a Grammy for "Best Rap Album."

As fans know, Mac's posthumous Grammy nomination was his first-ever Grammy nom. The "2009" rapper's parents, Karen Meyers and Mark McCormick , were in attendance at Sunday's show, after being invited to accept the award if Mac did, in fact, win. While he wasn't awarded, Mac, who died of an accidental overdose in September , was honored during the "In Memoriam" segment of the show.

As previously reported, Mac's ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande reacted to Mac's loss on Twitter , slamming the award show for inviting Mac's parents to show knowing the late rapper didn't win. The "ghostin" singer tweeted, “f**k,” “trash,” and 'bullsh*t" following his loss, later clarifying that she was not referring to Cardi. “Nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry,” she wrote on Twitter, before addressing Mac's loss directly. "THEY INVITED HIS PARENTS OUT. NO," she wrote. "this. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made."
